Yes. Dan can be over the top and offensive. But he is also incredibly insightful and well-spoken on important topics such as healthcare and gay rights. Portions of the book brought tears to my eyes. I would love to hear him debate more conservatives and bring his intelligent stance on healthcare and religious opposition to gay marriage to more people. In fact, I truly would love Dan Savage as President. I used to read Savage Love columns and enjoy them, but through his podcast I feel like I've really gotten to know Dan and to appreciate his politics and personality. He has a great voice for doing podcasts and audiobooks and is much, much more than simply a sex advice columnist.

As a fellow Washingtonian, I've followed Dan Savage career starting from his love advice column in the Seattle alternative newspaper The Stranger since the 1990s. His book The Kid published in 1999 on Savage and his partner journey took to adopt his son was ground breaking. As a
... freshman in high school it changed my worldview on what a family could look like. This was before same sex adoptions where common place. I also listen to his weekly advice podcast Savage Love. I was excited to pick up his book for my social justice book club. I could not find any new ideas in his book. I feel that the book is a summary of Savage's talking points in the last five years. There wasn't a new ideas for an avoid Savage Love Podcast. I gave it three stars reviews it's a good book for someone who is not familiar with Savage. My friends loved the collection of short essays ranging from politics to open relationships.MoreLess
