An Inquiry into the Principles and Policy of the Government of the United States was written by a prominent politician and writer John Taylor (1753-1824). He was a close friend of Thomas Jefferson. His works give a profound insight of the political life of that time. Of course, some of Taylor's views including the defense of slavery may seem strange and not democratic now but his books are to be read by those who are interested in the history of America of that period.
