Genres: Nonfiction
A non-fiction work by Herbert George Wells, an English novelist, journalist, sociologist, and historian. In “Anticipations”, written in 1901, the author gives utterance to his predictions concerning future, calling upon to create a New Republic based on science. The author begins with transport, describing modern streets full of cars and buses, where a horse is almost a curiosity. He mentions radio, the family life of the twentieth century, technological improvements, that make servants unnecessary; modern systems of central heating and ventilation. Even telephony, building, warfare and fire-arms, German aggression in the twentieth century wars, appearance of a universal language, and much more are predicted in this unique book, which circulation, to everyone's surprise, exceed those of all the early Wells’ science fiction novels.
