Shaken, Claire opened her mouth to protest but froze when he glanced at her, the heat of his gaze boring into hers. She closed her mouth with an audible snap, crossed her arms, and studied the room more closely.
In addition to the chair he’d occupied earlier, there was nothing in it but a twin bed covered with some ratty linens. The window was boarded up, with only cracks of light filtering through.
Without looking at her, Ty abandoned the video camera to prowl around the room, running his hands over and under surfaces, searching for the listening devices he’d mentioned.
In the tense silence, all she heard was the sound of her ragged breaths as she tried to regain her composure.
