Cover of book Escaped
Categories: Nonfiction

In spite of the fact, that World War I prisoners of war in Germany were forbidden not only to write but even to possess paper, some of them began writing down the events they witnessed, usually in dia

ry form. All writings found during searches were systematically confiscated and their authors punished, nevertheless people contrived to hide their notes from the enemy.
Though the “Escaped” is a later memoires, different to some extend, it is also a profound reflection on the situation and authentic description of the prisoners’ life in captivity.
