This book was hard for me to rate. I would probably give it 2.5 stars if I could. The author did an amazing amount of journalistic work to write it - the stories took him from Portland, ME to Buffalo to North Carolina. But I just didn't end up being satisfied. There were so many questions left unanswered or even unasked. Maybe if the mystery of who killed the girls was actually solved, it would have been a better book for me. But real life is not like a mystery novel or a cop show, I suppose. I felt like many of the odd folks living on Long Island were fingered in this book without any real proof. But no real proof of innocence either. Everything seemed very sketchy. The most horrifying thing was how little attention was paid to these missing woman until the four bodies were discovered. As one of the relatives noted, people went all out when a college girl was missing in Mexico, but a few poor escorts in NY State, and no one cares. Shouldn't everyone's life be worth somethi...ng?

This book helps the reader put all the background facts together. It does leave some unanswered questions about the LISK but that is understandable since these murders have yet to be solved. Good book and worth the read!Write Review:
