Linda White Villari (1836 - 1915) worked as both, author and translator. In "Oswald von Wolkenstein. A memoir of the last Minnesinger of Tirol, J M Dent & Co, London, 1901" she created a comprehensive work on the last minnesinger's life and poems. The first part allows detailed insights into the history of the Tyrol region in the 14th and 15th centuries as well as into the court life of this time. As a whole it analyzes the historical background of Oskar von Wolkenstein's poems, taking up the tradition of so called "Minnelieder", medieval German love songs, traditionally describing the relationship between a knight and an a courtly, unattainable woman. Villari's work also contains 10 photographs of the Tyrolean landscape from the turn to the 20th century. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.
