William R. Shedden Ralston, who translated the tales and compiled this book, did an incredible job. The book contains an interesting information about the language and dialects - all good reading. The tales themselves are equally exciting and interesting, providing much entertainment for those of us who enjoy folk tales, especially those of other countries. It is a huge insight into the Russian culture! Ralston tells his tales with superior conduct, as well as explains the history and culture of Russia at the time, so someone who has no knowledge of Russia or Russian history could gain much more from this book than any other.
