Report, 1935-1936, p. 13-15 The authorship of this pamphlet has been attributed by Justin Winsor in his Narrative and critical history (vol. v, p. 76, 80) to Richard Berresford, and in his later book, The Mississippi Basin (p. 141 note) to Dr. James Smith. Internal evidence, however, would discriedit either as the author.--cf. Introd. to 1928 reprint ed., p. 8
