Charles Hanson Towne (1877-1949) was an American author, poet, editor and lecturer. He was an editorial assistant for Cosmopolitan magazine before working as an editor on a number of magazines such as


: The Smart Set (1904), The Delineator (1907-1910), Designer (1910-1915), McClure's (1914-1920), and Harper's Bazaar (1926-1929). He also wrote a column for the New York American and taught a poetry course at Columbia University. His works include: The Quiet Singer and Other Poems (1908), Manhattan (1909), Youth and Other Poems (1910), Beyond the Stars and Other Poems (1912), To-day and To-morrow (1916), A World of Windows (1919), The Bad Man (1921), Ambling Through Acadia (1923), Roosevelt as the Poets Saw Him (with Clara Thackeray Hillman) (1923), Adventures in Editing (1926) and So Far, So Good (1945).
