The Edda, volume 1
Edda is the title of two of ancient Icelandic literature. A collection of narrative poems about gods and heroes, the “Elder Edda,” can by right be considered the main source of Scandinavian mythology. Being a work of the thirteenth century, the “Elder Edda” is based on the conception that precedes the tenth century – the time of Vikings power. However, the time of the events still remains open to question. Let along the mythological side, it also appears a valuable addition to the history of paganism. The “Younger Edda” represents the most complete picture of Scandinavian mythology, which became popular among all European nations.
