Genres: Nonfiction
First revised edition of 1911. Some slight spotting to covers. A few pages were cut too large and show wear where edges extend slighlty. Otherwise sound. Owners names penciled lightly on first blank. A number of photographic plates of black historical interest. First revised edition, School Edition. The meaning of "Industrial" in the title of this book refers to achievement. The book initially deals with slavery and Reconstruction, then goes on to describe Negro achievements in education, and in the arts and trades. The illustrations are reproductions of artwork by students at various schools, and most reproduce work shown in the Negro Exhibit at the Jamestown Exposition (1907). Both authors were educators, and Davis was a well-known poet. Scarce.
