**SPOILER ALERT** (Just in case, you know)So...The Innocent is a fast-paced, action-packed page-turner (it only took me a few hours to finish), and it was great until it was all revenge blah blah centred around the main protagonist... which is exactly the same plot as Memory Man, which I read about half a year ago and I'd thought was so good. Oh well. It was still gripping (even while I was inwardly complaining to myself) and I still mostly enjoyed it...

On the plus side: It is very tight. Every chapter takes the plot forward at pace and at no point are you left wondering why a passage is there. Also, he is frugal with words, providing just enough to inform and no more. This gives the book excellent pace and makes for a good thriller page turner. The main character is well constructed and from the start the reader is pulled into his mindset. On the downside: I found elements of the plot quite unfeasible. Some of the connections that lead to the climax were thin and dif
...ficult to imagine actually happening in the real world. When the plot threads are finally tied I was left somewhat dissatisfied. The denouement just before the end however was constructed well. The main supporting characters on the other hand are sometimes a bit thin and the reader struggles to care what they do or think beyond how they fit the plot. Overall it was worth the read, but from my perspective it was to admire the technique and enjoy an example of the genre; and not to have my mind blown by the story and plot.MoreLess

I enjoyed it; found it an interesting read, until Chapter 94 -- at which point, I was holding my breath !

It was a great book. I loved Julie. I would like to read more books like this. It kept me involved through the whole story. I'm just surprised Will couldn't see through Anne.

Loved it. A true thriller but a bit too long. Would recommend Brad Meltzer. He's another master at military and political suspense.

Will Robbie was someone with goodness in him and he let it out times even in the midst of terrific trouble. He had his choice of profession and yet he was not hated by this reader.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is action packed and fast paced. Will Robie reminds me of Lee Childs' Jack Reacher.
