The region of Tsavo at all times was reputed a damnation among all neighborhood tribes of Africa. The mysterious story of the man-eaters of Tsavo, which happened in the very end of the 19th century, is still exciting the imagination of hunters, researches and men of art. The building of a railway in Kenya was interrupted by lions, which gobbled up workmen one by one. No one was able to manage the animals, professionals or the hired Maasai, till an amateur hunter joined the events. That was a J.H. Patterson, an Anglo-Irish soldier, hunter, author and Zionist, who spared the builders and the neighborhood of Tsavo from the man-eaters. Afterwards, in 1907, Pattersoh described the events and his adventures in his book “The Man-Eaters of Tsavo and Other East African Adventures”, which had an astounding success. This episode was also depicted in the 1996 film The Ghost and the Darkness.
