Divorce, incest, child abuse, same sex marriage... Wally Lamb certainly covers many themes in this book. I would give this book 3 1\2 stars if I could. It was an enjoyable read despite some of the heavy topics. However, I began to find myself rushing through certain pages by the last third of the book due to the heavy dialogue which seemed a bit much. Because of the many topics covered, I think this book would make a great book club read eliciting much discussion and perhaps lots of differing opinions.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. I've read Lamb before and enjoyed him more or less. I downloaded this one, but by the time I got around to listening, I couldn't even remember what it was about. So, the story was mostly a surprise for me. I did make the mistake of reading a review beforehand that specifically mentioned the point of view of a pedophile, so I spent a good portion of my listening time wondering which character that would be. I both like...d and didn't like Lamb's choice of narrative style here. I generally appreciate multiple POVs but Lamb's stream-of-consciousness here got a bit tiresome in places. Additionally, I didn't really like any of the characters, which made it difficult to care much about what happened to them. But, the story was well-told and held my interest through all 25 parts of the audiobook, so I can't fault it too much. Overall, I'd say I'm glad I read it and will continue to read Lamb's work in the future.MoreLess

I love this book so much! I love Wally Lamb I would recommend all of his books. She's Come Undone is also amazing I've read all but one of his books and each one has brought me to tears at certain moments and made me fall in love with the characters.Write Review:
