This book is a civil war navel story. The main character of the novel, a boy named Jack, becomes a captain. He has to show his persistence, leadership and other personal qualities to help his ship. "Young Captain Jack" is a perfect example of a personal success story told by master Horatio Alger. Captain Jack does his best helping his ship, and finally he ends up a hero. His way was hard and full of obstacles. The principles of leadership are the main principles in this book.
